Former a monastery, this Quinta traditionally provided the grapes for port
wine companies and in 1999, also began producing its own table wine.
Completely renovated and refurbished, it welcomes all
the infrastructure needed to produce wine but also luxury guesthouse.
The grapes are vinified in traditional lagares and
trampled by foot. Several varieties are included: Touriga Nacional, Tinta
Roriz and Touriga Franca. Production is limited to about 4.000 bottles a
year.
If the wine has not the character and quality
required to achieve the Quinta de Tourais, then only the Touronio is
produced.
A
beautiful dark color, the nose is characterized by a high concentration of
aromas and red fruit (blackberry, plum ...) and spice accented with a hint
of vanilla.
In the mouth, this wine very well balanced and
medium level still shows discreet at this point. However, with aeration fruity and toasted aromas
are
discernible.
Currently, the wine needs to be decanted 1 hour in
advance and served at room temperature. And will improve over 5-8 years.
